English dos and don’ts on a date

English dos and don’ts on a date

Make sure you’re ready for an evening of romance! To help you win the heart of that special someone, we’ve compiled an English list of top “Dos” and “Don’ts” on a date!

5 Dos

1. Dress to impress
To create a lasting first impression, leave those beat-up old Levi’s at home and dress to impress, or wear really nice clothes, with your latest funky outfit.

2. Keep the conversation flowing
Find topics you have in common with your date, and be prepared to talk about them. This should help you keep the conversation flowing so there are no long, uncomfortable pauses where you don’t know what to say.

3. Read the signals
Is your date sending you a signal that you’re moving too fast? Or are they trying to let you know that they’re ready for more? Read the signals, or pay close attention to non-verbal communication, so you’ll know the next step to take.

4. Whisper sweet nothings
For a truly romantic evening with someone special, spend time whispering sweet nothings in each other’s ears, or whispering sweet compliments and words of love.

5. Keep it short and sweet
A short and sweet, or brief yet satisfying, time together will leave your date eager for more. Congratulations, you’ve sealed that next date!

5 Don’ts

1. Make your date a green-eyed monster
Talking about how you had lunch with one of your exes that day will make your date a green-eyed monster. No, not a real monster! It means that your date will feel jealous.

2. Create a recipe for disaster
Knowing that your date loves Italian food is a great start, but just booking a table at a random place you’ve never been to is a recipe for disaster, or a plan that is sure to cause problems!

3. Talk about old flames
“Fiona was SO gorgeous!”, “Matt earned SO much money!”, and “Jamie really ruined my life!” are phrases that will have your date looking for a quick exit! Old flames, or previous girlfriends and boyfriends, are strictly off-topic.

4. Act like a momma’s boy
Your female date will think you’re a momma’s boy - a man over-reliant on his mother - if you tell her how your mother likes to tuck you into bed at night with a nice cup of hot chocolate and a bed-time story.

5. Get cold feet
The worst thing you could to do your date is become so nervous that you get cold feet and don’t show up!
