Manipulation In Relationships

Manipulation is an art and some people are masters at it. A person rarely is aware that he or she is made to think or behave in a particular way as another person wants them to. The manipulated person feels that they are doing an activity because they want to but unconsciously he or she is just a puppet in someone else’s hand.

It’s sad but true.

Manipulation in relationships is as common as arguments and sex. It takes place when there is respect, trust, dependency and love. Married couples manipulate one another several times in a day.

Some people allow themselves to get manipulated because they are in love; others accept it as they want harmony in the family. A manipulative person is basically selfish, pompous and a control addict. He or she feels the need to be in-charge of everything and like the feeling of power. They liked to be known as leaders, controlling everyone around them which fuels their ego. It doesn’t matter if their actions hurt someone’s feelings or breaks a relationship. They always believe that they are right and nothing about them can be wrong. Some of them can be delusional.

Such manipulative behavior doesn’t last long. There will be a point when this bond of the controller will break. The person allowing to be manipulated will walk out and lead his own way of life. Then the manipulator will be felt alone and helpless.

Manipulation in relationship is unhealthy. It brings stress, deceit and disharmony. The best way to resolve this issue is to face the manipulator and make him aware of his mistakes. If he or she is adamant then seek counseling or discuss the matter among close friends and family. If others can explain the situation to him, then he may listen to reason. Remember such manipulators have huge egos. They will never admit they have made a mistake. It will take them a while to get down from this high horse.
